Before each pantry service, we travel to the Greenwich Hannaford grocery store to pick up deli, baked goods, breads, meats, and produce that is safe and nutritious that the store no longer wants to sell for food recovery. We also work with the Cambridge Dollar General store to recover miscellaneous/food products and the Subway restaurant to recover day-old bread. Regional Food Bank of Eastern New York works with several retailers to donate food that would be otherwise discarded.
By implementing recovery programs, businesses can reduce the amount of material that enters into the waste stream and minimize the environmental burdens associated with agricultural production, food disposal, and waste while serving our local food pantry. It is a way to be a socially responsible business, which will make a store more green and sustainable and foster goodwill in the community.
Collaborate with us to make a greater impact on food recovery. We welcome partnerships with businesses to donate food, organizations, and individuals who share Cambridge Food Pantry's mission of helping others.
